EAST OLIVER BORN & RAISED

Born and raised on East Oliver Lake Road just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario in beautiful Canada; Heather Davey grew up with a love of art and all things creative.  

In 2017, Heather graduated from the Interactive Media Development program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, where she focused on photography, 3D graphics, graphic design and web development. After graduating, she went on to explore Advanced Special Effects at Sheridan College, however a few months into the program she realized it just wasn't for her and chose to seek new adventures. 

Moving back home and searching the job market, Heather found it discouraging and near impossible to find a job while living with one of her life's little challenges called, Sensoring Neuropathy. Sensoring Neuropathy is a nerve condition that affects the extremities and reduces her ability to sense pain, pressure, extreme temperatures or basic sensory feeling. Faced with these challenges, it was apparent her job choices were restricted as physically she was limited.  Heather laughs and says she would make a spilly waitress, a hazard around hot things and would be a disastrous tight rope walker! Faced with these limitations and a scarcity of design jobs in the area, Heather decided to take matters into her own hands.  Since there were no appropriate jobs out there for her, Heather decided to make up her own job description based on what she loved doing.   

Sometime in 2019 and after a few trips around the world to South Africa, Heather re discovered her passion for design and set her focus on creating a clothing brand she could live by - enter East Oliver!  By starting her company and becoming a solopreneur, at the early age of 23,  allowed Heather her creative freedom as well as the ability to grow and expand the East Oliver brand any way she wishes, which is something she values.  She decided what was in her way, was her way to creating a fulfilling career for herself, one that she can enjoy building and sharing with others.  She hopes to inspire others that may also have their challenges in life to make lemon aid out of lemons and show them you don't have to remain stuck just because of a physical limitation.  Step out, go after your dreams and the doors will open.

Helping the northern dogs

For every item purchased, one dollar is donated to a local dog rescue organization in an effort to help save dogs from unfortunate and sometimes life threatening situations. A donation is given from items both purchased on the online store as well at in person markets.
